Bettiah, 03 June (HS). A married woman, Ranju Devi, committed suicide by hanging herself on Sunday evening in Narkatiya village under Gopalpur police station in Bettiah police district.
The married woman is the wife of Dharmendra Sahni, a resident of Narkatiya village. The police said that upon receiving information from the father of the married woman, Faguni Sahni, a resident of Turkaulia in East Champaran district, the body hanging from a sari was seized from her house and sent for post-mortem.
The married woman's father has also accepted the suicide. The villagers told that the woman committed suicide by hanging herself in the fourth attempt. Before this, her children had foiled her three attempts to commit suicide. Her husband has gone out to earn money about four months ago. The reason for suicide could not be known. She has one son and two daughters. The eldest son is eight years old. The children told the villagers that before hanging herself, she had talked to her grandmother. She had said that you all should come. I will commit suicide by hanging myself. Her mother had also asked them to come after telling them not to commit suicide. Her father and family left the house in a hurry. Then the woman called again. Then they reached the nearby village Jhakhra. When they reached her house, she had died hanging herself with the help of a sari.
