The stock market started with a rise on the third day of the week. However, the market opened with slight gains. Then at 9.33, Sensex opened 34.38 points higher at 81,544.43 while Nifty opened with a gain of 20.20 points at 24,630.25. Government and U.S. anchormark stock market indexes opened flat on Wednesday as investors remained cautious ahead of the release of inflation data.
Dr. VK Vijayakumar, chief investment strategist at Geojit Financial Services, said Nifty is in a consolidation range and is likely to remain in this consolidation phase with modest upside in the near term.
