New Delhi, April 12 (HS). Due to pressure of profit booking, the domestic stock market fell victim to an all-round decline on Friday. After the market opened, buyers tried to create buying pressure for some time, but after this the market was completely taken over by sellers, due to which the stock market closed with a fall of more than 1 percent. After the entire day's trading, Sensex closed with a weakness of 1.06 percent and Nifty with a weakness of 1.03 percent.
During the day's trading today, all the sectoral indices of BSE closed in the red. Similarly, the sectoral indices of Nifty also continued to trade in the red. There was maximum selling in shares of Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical and FMCG sectors today. Similarly, banking, realty and energy indices also closed with a decline. There was continuous pressure in the broad market today, due to which the BSE midcap index closed with a weakness of 0.49 percent. Similarly, the Smallcap index ended today's trading with a decline of 0.60 percent.
Today, due to the weakness of the market, the wealth of stock market investors reduced by more than Rs 2.5 lakh crore. The market capitalization of BSE listed companies declined to Rs 399.77 lakh crore (provisional) after today's trading. Their market capitalization on the last trading day i.e. Wednesday was Rs 402.19 lakh crore. In this way, investors suffered a loss of about Rs 2.42 lakh crore from today's trading.
Today, there was active trading in 3,943 shares in BSE during the day's trading. Of these, 1,477 shares closed with gains, while 2,367 shares closed with a decline, while 99 shares closed without any movement. There was active trading in 2,211 shares in NSE today. Of these, 718 shares closed in the green after earning profit and 1,493 shares closed in the red after incurring a loss. Similarly, out of 30 shares included in Sensex, 4 shares closed with gains and 26 shares closed with decline. Out of the stocks included in Nifty, 7 stocks closed in the green mark and 43 stocks closed in the red mark.
BSE Sensex opened today at 74,889.64 points with a weakness of 148.51 points. As soon as trading started, buyers tried to create buying pressure, due to which this index made a slight recovery and reached 74,951.88 points, but after this, selling pressure was created in the market, due to which this index declined.
After 12 noon, the weakness in the stock market increased further due to increased profit booking, due to which the index fell by 848.84 points to reach the level of 74,189.31 points. At the end of trading, Sensex closed at 74,244.90 points with a fall of 793.25 points due to minor buying due to intra-day settlement.
Like the Sensex, NSE's Nifty today started trading at 22,677.40 points, falling 76.40 points. With the support of buying in early trade, this index also jumped to 22,726.45 points. But after this the bears took over the market, due to which this index kept falling continuously. Under selling pressure, this index plunged by 250.50 points and fell to 22,503.75 points. After the day's trading, Nifty closed at 22,519.40 points with a weakness of 234.40 points.
