New Delhi, August 27 (HS). After trading in a limited range, the domestic stock market closed with a slight gain on Tuesday. Today's trading started with a rise. After the market opened, the stock market slipped to the red mark due to selling pressure, but the stock market gained momentum after getting buying support. Nifty fell today after reaching very close to its all-time high level. After the whole day's trading, Sensex closed with a symbolic strength of 0.02 percent and Nifty closed with a symbolic strength of 0.03 percent.
Today, during the day's trading, there was buying in the shares of telecom, IT and banking sectors. Similarly, chemical, pharmaceutical and realty indices also managed to close with gains. On the other hand, there was selling pressure in the shares of energy, FMCG, metal and consumer durables sector. Buying pressure also remained in the broader market today, due to which the BSE midcap index closed with a gain of 0.58 percent. Similarly, the smallcap index ended today's trading with a gain of 0.50 percent.
Due to the buying of small and medium shares today, the wealth of stock market investors increased by more than Rs 80 thousand crores. The market capitalization of companies listed on BSE increased to Rs 463.11 lakh crore (provisional) after today's trading. On the previous trading day i.e. Monday, their market capitalization was Rs 462.29 lakh crore. In this way, investors made a profit of about Rs 82 thousand crores from today's trading.
There was active trading in 4,051 shares on BSE during today's trading. Of these, 2,151 shares closed with a gain while 1,808 shares showed a decline, whereas 92 shares closed without any fluctuation. There was active trading in 2,367 shares on NSE today. Of these, 1,292 shares closed in the green zone after making profits, while 1,075 shares closed in the red zone after incurring losses. Similarly, out of the 30 shares included in Sensex, 10 shares closed with a gain and 20 shares closed with a decline. Out of the 50 shares included in Nifty, 21 shares closed in the green zone and 29 shares closed in the red zone.
The BSE Sensex opened today with a gain of 117.12 points at 81,815.23 points. Due to selling pressure at the beginning of the trading, the index fell by 96.60 points to 81,600.51 points. However, after this, due to the start of buying, the index regained its place in the green zone in a short time. After the whole day's trading, the Sensex closed with a marginal gain of 13.65 points at 81,711.76 points.
Like the Sensex, NSE's Nifty started trading today with a slight gain of 14.20 points at 25,024.80 points. As soon as the market opened, selling started and this index also fell by 36.95 points to the lowest level of the day at 24,973.65 points. However, after this, the movement of this index also gained momentum on getting support from buying. With the support of continuous buying, Nifty jumped with a gain of 62.50 points and reached 25,073.10 points very close to the all-time high level. After this, due to profit booking, this index again fell. After the whole day's buying and selling, Nifty ended today's trading at 25,017.75 points with a symbolic gain of 7.15 points.
Among the stock market giants, SBI Life Insurance 2.38 percent, Shriram Finance 2.13 percent, Maruti Suzuki 2.07 percent, Bajaj Finserv 1.95 percent and HDFC Life 1.92 percent were included in the list of top 5 gainers of today after the entire day's trading. On the other hand, Titan Company 2.17 percent, JSW Steel 2.02 percent, Hindustan Unilever 1.92 percent, Tata Motors 1.39 percent and Grasim Industries 1.34 percent were included in the list of top 5 losers of today.
