Several trains were cancelled (local train cancelled) on the Howrah branch for maintenance of overhead equipment. According to railway sources, a total of 6 trains have been cancelled on Sunday. Railways has expressed regret for this disruption in local trains. Also, passengers have been advised to use alternative transport.
Railways said that maintenance work of overhead equipment (OHE) is going on in Burdwan-Howrah main section, Burdwan-Azimganj-Katwa loop and Khana-Gumani section on Howrah division.
According to railway officials, the passenger pressure is slightly less on Sundays. Therefore, overhead equipment maintenance work is being done on Sundays. This disrupts the passenger service to some extent, but this work is very important for the modernization of the railways. Therefore, these 6 trains have been cancelled.
