Many important decisions taken in Assam Cabinet meeting

New Delhi/Guwahati, 04 December (HIST). The Assam government has decided to ban the consumption of beef in public places, hotels and restaurants.

This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at the conference hall of Assam House in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister said that today’s Cabinet decision will lead to a complete ban on beef in public places and hotels and restaurants with immediate effect. The Chief Minister said that beef will not be consumed in public places and hotels and restaurants with immediate effect.

Dr Sarma said the decision to ban beef in public places and hotels and restaurants will further strengthen the Assam Cattle Preservation Act, 2021.

The cabinet decided to convert the four-lane stretch of the road leading to Lokpriya Gopinath Baradalai International Airport into six-lane. An additional amount of Rs 116 crore has been allocated from the state budget for the six-lane road. The estimated cost of this project will be Rs 474 crore.

The Cabinet decided to start a separate literary award in the name of renowned litterateur Dr. Homen Bargohain for government pensioners. Those who are already taking any other pension will be given a lump sum assistance of Rs 50 thousand. It was decided that monthly literary pension would be given to persons other than government employees. However, Government servants working under corporations and undertakings and not drawing Government pension will be eligible for literary pension. The Chief Minister said that this decision was taken because there was an audit objection on giving literary pension to government pensioners.

The Cabinet decided to transfer Sanskrit Toll and Pali Toll from the existing Directorate of Higher Education to the Directorate of Secondary Education. Briefing the media after the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma said that Assam will see a new wave of development because of the projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Advantage Assam Summit in February next year. is likely to be done. Revealing the details of the projects, the Chief Minister included expansion of Bongaigaon Refinery by additional 5 million metric tonnes, expansion of Namrup fertilizer plant at a cost of Rs 10,000 crore, Guwahati Ring Road Project, Kaziranga Elevated Corridor, Numligarh-Gohpur Road Tunnel at a cost of Rs 25,000 crore. New expressway from Guwahati to Barapani and Panchgram, connecting Morigaon and Darrang at a cost of Rs. Vala mentioned a bridge on the Brahmaputra, two satellite townships at Jagiroad and Palasbari at an estimated cost of Rs 10,000 crore and a railway project connecting Guwahati to Gelephu in Bhutan.

Dr. Sarma said that during my current visit to the national capital, I have had several meetings with the Prime Minister and Union Ministers, which have yielded very positive results. The Chief Minister announced that the cabinet expansion will take place next on December 7.
