Many historical mistakes in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Heera Mandi'

Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali produced web series 'Heera Mandi' starring Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari and Sonakshi Sinha has been released and many of Bhansali's fans are angry with the laxity with historical facts in the series. Apart from India, While the story of 'Heera Mandi' is basically the same, many people from Pakistan have also pointed out mistakes in this series.

Various fans say that before independence, Lahore was the capital of the then undivided Punjab and the main language spoken there was Punjabi. At the same time, in 'Heera Mandi' the entire setting including the heroine's clothes, jewellery, dialogues seems to be of 19th century Lucknow.

The original Hira Mandi of Lahore was not so flashy or grand and its clans were not so influential. Many people say that the kind of houses shown in the series, like the mansions of the Nawabs or the grand palaces of the families, have nothing to do with the Lahore of that time. Talking about the era of 1940, Bhansali has adopted the back drop of 1840 and in that too he has shown more of the Nawabi culture of Lucknow.

In a scene of the series, Bhansali shows an Urdu newspaper.

People have zoomed him and translated his news and this news also seems to be from 2022. Fans wonder why a creator like Bhansali made such a big mistake.

Some fans have also expressed displeasure over the portrayal of women adorned in lavish clothes and jewelery in successive films, which has nothing to do with real life. Due to his tendency to show too much imagination, grandeur and pomp, Bhansali takes too many liberties with history. Be it city or village, Bhansali's heroes and heroines who live everyday life wear simple jeans and t-shirts. Many people have also remembered that Bhansali had tampered with the original story of 'Devdas' also.
