The last rites of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be performed tomorrow Saturday morning at 10-11 am near Shakti Sthal in Delhi. His daughter will reach Delhi from America late tonight. Dr. Manmohan Singh’s mortal remains have been kept at his residence on Motilal Nehru Marg in Delhi. Last night his mortal remains were taken from AIIMS to his residence.
The body was brought to the residence
Today his mortal remains were kept at his residence for the last darshan. Political leaders including the President and Prime Minister arrived for the last darshan. Then tomorrow the last rites will be performed with political honours. Its sole purpose is to honor and respect his position and his contribution towards the country.
21 gun salute will be given
Before the cremation, the mortal remains of the former Prime Minister were wrapped in the national flag of India i.e. the tricolor. Apart from this, he is also given a 21-gun salute during the funeral. This salute is considered a symbol of the highest state honour.
Security and protocol are being strictly followed during the last visit of the former Prime Minister. From common people to dignitaries and politicians participated in his last journey. Apart from this, military bands and armed forces personnel also join the final procession and perform the traditional march.
Central government canceled all programs
The last rites of former Prime Ministers of the country are performed at special memorial sites in Delhi such as the last rites of Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi were performed at the Rajghat complex. Separate mausoleums of many former Prime Ministers have also been built. The government has canceled all today’s programs. Seven days of national mourning has been declared.
