Manipur is going through a very difficult phase

It is unfortunate and worrying that the situation in Manipur does not seem to be under control. For the last few days, Manipur is once again in the news for bad reasons. Some time ago, when the process of talks had started between the representatives of different sections, it was expected that the path would be paved for restoration of peace in the state, but suddenly such incidents happened one after the other, due to which the situation went out of control. .It became visible.

The extent to which the situation is worsening in Manipur is evident from the fact that AFSPA has been re-imposed in some areas there. Along with this, fifty additional companies of paramilitary forces are also being sent there. In view of the insecurity and riots, the way schools and colleges are being closed and internet services are being disrupted, it is clear that it may take time to bring the state back on track.

The situation seems to be becoming more complicated due to the long-running unrest in Manipur. Earlier there was only distrust between the Matei and Kuki communities, then the Naga community also came forward with their complaints. Since Manipur has a BJP-led government, the responsibility of the Central Government to expeditiously address the causes of instability and unrest in the state increases.

It is true that the troubled situation in Manipur does not have the same impact on the country as the deteriorating situation in any other state. So this does not mean that improving the conditions there should not be given top priority. One cannot be satisfied with the fact that the Union Home Ministry is constantly reviewing and monitoring the situation in Manipur because the question is why the situation is not returning to normal there?

The Central Government should not ignore the fact that Manipur is a border state and the infiltration of Kuki people from Myanmar is not going to stop. It is noteworthy that Myanmar itself is struggling with instability due to the activities of rebels. In such a situation, the Government of India should make every possible effort to establish peace in Manipur. For this, there should be no hesitation in implementing AFSPA in the entire state if necessary.
