New Delhi/Imphal, June 16 (HS). Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey met President Draupadi Murmu. During this meeting on Sunday, she discussed with the President about relief and rehabilitation of the people affected by the devastating floods in Manipur.
During the meeting, he told the President how relief is being provided to the displaced people taking shelter in various relief camps in the state. The Governor apprised the President of the relief and rescue operations carried out by the central agencies.
Expressing concern over the displaced people, the Governor requested the President to take immediate action for the rehabilitation of the affected people and sought financial assistance from the Central Government for this.
During the meeting, the Governor congratulated the President for the smooth and successful organisation of the swearing-in ceremony of the new government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also invited the President to attend the convocation of Manipur University.
During this, the President assured Governor Uikey of all possible assistance to Manipur.
