Manchester, July 19 (HS). Premier League club Manchester United has announced the signing of young defender Lenny Yoro from Ligue 1 club Lille, which will run until 2029.

The club said in an official statement, “Manchester United is delighted to confirm that Lenny Yoro has joined the club. The French defender has signed a contract until June 2029, with an option to extend for a further year.”

At the age of 18, Yoro has played 60 matches for Lille's first team. Last season, he was also included in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season. He played a key role in helping Lille finish fourth in the league last season.

After signing with Manchester United, Yoro said in an official statement released by the club, “It is an incredible honour to sign with a club with such prestige and ambition as Manchester United at such an early stage in my career. From my first conversation with the club they created a clear plan for my development in Manchester as part of this exciting project and showed great care for me and my family.”

He said, “I know the history of supporting young players at Manchester United and I think this could be the perfect place for me to reach my potential and fulfil my ambitions with my new teammates. I can't wait to get started.”

Manchester United sporting director, Dan Ashworth, believes the young defender has all the attributes that can help him transform into a top-class centre-back.

He added, “Lenny is one of the most exciting young defenders in world football; he has every attribute needed to develop into a top-class centre-back. After making such a great start to his career, we are excited to support him in achieving his immense potential at Manchester United.”

Ashworth added: “This club has an excellent track record of developing young players. Under Eric Ten Hag and our excellent staff, we are looking to develop our players into the next generation.

This will ensure Lenny has the right platform to achieve the success that everyone at the club is aiming for.”
