Managers as well as Municipal Corporation officials were held responsible for Virar Hospital fire

Mumbai: The secret report of the fire at Vijayvallabh Hospital in Virar has been released after three years. In this report prepared by the district authorities, many senior officials of the municipality including the hospital management have been held guilty. Despite orders for action against these officers, no action was taken against anyone. In this regard, one party has demanded immediate suspension of these officers and a SIT investigation into the entire matter.

On April 23, 2021, at around 3:30 am, a fire broke out in the ICU on the second floor of Vijayvallabh Hospital in Virar. 16 patients burnt to death in this fire. A committee headed by Palghar district officials was formed to investigate the fire. The committee sent its report to the state government within a month. But that report was kept confidential. A political party has received a report from the state government that it has lagged behind for three consecutive years. As much as the hospital management is responsible for the fire, Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation's Ad. Commissioner (Fire and Disaster Management), Ad. Commissioner (Medical Health and Electricity), Regional Day Commissioner (Health) and other officers and Chief Fire Officer are equally responsible for the fire. . The report found all senior officers responsible.

The report clearly mentioned that all these officers who were not at all sensitive towards the fire incident should be blamed for this incident, departmental inquiry should be initiated against them, they should be transferred and They should be appointed in the municipality according to their category. Train them in all administrative matters. But even after three years no action has been taken against him. Not a single officer performed his responsibilities adequately during the fire incident. Apart from this, everyone reached the incident site late and many of them became 'not reachable' after the incident. Therefore, now a demand has been made to form a SIT and take action against all of them.
