Kolkata, 01 October (Hindustan Reporter). West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said that the people of the state eagerly wait for Durga Puja throughout the year. He made this statement during the Durga Puja celebrations of Shribhoomi Sporting Club, which has been organized by his cabinet colleague Sujit Bose.

During this, Mamata Banerjee said that the annual assistance provided by her government to the puja committees proves to be very helpful, especially for those small clubs which are financially weak. The state government is providing financial assistance of Rs 85 thousand to the clubs for organizing puja this year, which some clubs have returned this year. The move by clubs to scale back aid comes after R.G. The tax has been taken in support of the ongoing protest against the murder and rape of a doctor in the hospital.

The Chief Minister said that the festive season starts in Bengal with Durga Puja. After this comes Diwali, Kali Puja and Chhath Puja. This series of festivals continues till Christmas in December.

Banerjee's statement came when junior doctors in the state decided to 'completely stop work' before Durga Puja. Doctors have taken this step demanding security and facilities in hospitals. Despite the instructions of the Supreme Court, the doctors are adamant on their demands.

Earlier, Mamata Banerjee had appealed to the doctors to return to work as people wait for Durga Puja the whole year.
