Kolkata, May 24 (HS). Hundreds of saints and sages took to the streets of Kolkata on Friday evening to protest against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's objectionable remarks against Bharat Seva Ashram, Ramakrishna Mission and ISKCON.
Led by Bharat Seva Ashram's sanyasi Swami Pradiptananda alias Kartik Maharaj, saints and sanyasis from various organisations marched barefoot on the streets of Kolkata. The march started from Sister Nivedita Park near Mayer Bari, the former residence of the famous Ma Sarada in Bagh Bazar, and concluded near Swami Vivekananda's ancestral home in Vidhan Sarani via Swami Vivekananda Circuit.
During this, Kartik Maharaj said that Hinduism is in danger in West Bengal. The reason for this is that the head of the state government herself is attacking Hindu saints, due to which the police and non-Hindu elements are attacking Hindu monks under the protection of the police. Referring to the attack on the saints who came to Gangasagar last year, he said that the one who gives courage to attack Hindu saints in Bengal is none other than Mamata Banerjee. Because of this, Hindus are in danger here.
He also raised questions on the attack on the Ramkrishna Mission Ashram in North Bengal and the police filing a case against the monks under serious sections. He said that more than 500 saints and sages are walking barefoot on the streets of Kolkata today. Their only vow is to teach a lesson to the anti-Hindu government in the state.
