Kolkata, 27 September (HIST). West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee recently expressed pride in announcing the state's new semiconductor factory. The Chief Minister said that this factory is an important step for the industrial development of the state, which will re-establish Bengal on the global map. In his tweet on Friday, he called it an important step to fulfill the dreams of Vishwa Bangla and also expressed his gratitude to America and the corporate world there.

The announcement came after the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden, in which both the countries appreciated joint efforts to boost India's semiconductor production. Global company GlobalFoundries (GF) also has a major role in this project, which has proposed to set up a semiconductor chip research and development center in Kolkata. Under this project, a Global Competence Center is being set up in Kolkata, which will open new employment opportunities for the youth of the state.

Mamata has said that the state government has made efforts to attract investment in this sector for a long time, and now it has achieved success. With this initiative, Bengal will emerge as a major hub in the semiconductor industry, which will contribute significantly to India's technological progress.
