Sharing her condolences on social media platform ‘X’, Mamata Banerjee said that she is deeply hurt and distressed by the sudden and painful death of Ashish Banerjee. Remembering Ashish Banerjee, he described him as a dedicated leader who had spent his entire life in the field of public service and education.

Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack, saying, “This tragic incident is all the more painful because he had to endure immense mental and emotional stress in the last days of his life.” He further wrote that despite having a long record of public service, he was continuously defamed, made false allegations against him and subjected to mental torture. Mamta Banerjee said that this incident has forced all of us to think about how much human cost the society is having to pay for the ever-increasing political enmity.

What was the whole matter and what was written in the suicide note?

On Sunday morning, the body of 74-year-old Ashish Banerjee was found hanging inside the TMC office adjacent to his ancestral house at Hattalapada in Rampurhat in Birbhum district. As soon as the information was received, the local police reached the spot and took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem. Along with this, the party office has been sealed and police force has been deployed there. Birbhum Superintendent of Police Vidit Raj Bhundesh said that the police have registered a case of unnatural death and have sent the hand-written note (suicide note) recovered from the spot for forensic examination.

According to the information revealed, in that alleged suicide note, Ashish Banerjee has defended his long political career and has completely rejected all the allegations of corruption against him. It is written in the note that he has been active in politics since his student days and he has never participated in any corruption in his entire life and has never taken money in return for any work. The police are now closely investigating every aspect and call records related to this case.
