Maldivian leader who poisoned India now insults tricolor, apologizes for criticism

India-Maldives : Maldives ministers are continuously spewing venom against India. Maryam Shiuna, who was earlier suspended for a controversial comment, has now mocked the Indian tricolor. However, he later deleted the controversial post and apologized. According to reports, Shiuna had posted on social media to target the opposition party MDP (Maldivian Democratic Party) in Maldives. In the deleted post, the party logo was replaced with the Ashok Chakra present in the Indian tricolor.

Shiuna has now apologized for this. He wrote, 'I would like to talk about a recent social media post which is being discussed and criticized. I apologize for any confusion my recent post caused. It has been brought to my attention that the image I used in my reply to MDP resembles the Indian flag. I would like to clarify that I was not aware of this and I sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding. Maldives respects its relations with India.

Made objectionable comments on Prime Minister's visit to Lakshadweep

Xiu was a junior minister in the government of President Mohamed Muizu. She is also the spokesperson of Male City Council. He was suspended after making objectionable remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Lakshadweep. The Maldives government also took action against two more ministers, Abdulla Mahzoom Majeed and Malsha Sharif.
