Maldives' tone changed, China gave such a statement about India – News India Live

The bitterness in India-Maldives relations now seems to be going away. Relations between the two countries are becoming normal. And the reason for all this is the change in the attitude of President Mohammed Muizzu. Meanwhile, a senior Maldives minister who visited China has talked about President Mohammed Muizza's recent visit to New Delhi and the importance of relations with India for the tourism-dependent economy.

Muizzu is considered a supporter of China

This comment by Maldives Economy and Trade Minister Mohammed Saeed comes at a time when Maldives-India relations are being re-established after President Muizzu's visit to India. Mohammed Muizzu went to India on June 9 to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Muizzu is considered a supporter of China.

Good relations between India and Maldives

“President Muizzu has reiterated that India is our closest neighbour,” Mohammad Saeed, who is attending the 15th World Economic Forum in Dalian, said in response to a question on the “tension”. “India is one of the most important tourist destinations for us in terms of the number of tourists coming from India, especially in the tourism sector.”

Muizzu comes to India

On his return to Male from New Delhi, President Muizzu described his official visit to India to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Modi as a 'remarkable success' for the Maldives. Muizzu also stressed that strong ties between the two countries will bring prosperity to the Maldives and Maldivian citizens. Saeed is the first Maldivian minister to visit China. Earlier in January, Muizzu visited Beijing.
