Expressing his honour of being the chief guest, Maldives Foreign Minister Musa extended warm greetings to PM Modi on behalf of President Muizzu's government and the people of Maldives.
Relations between Maldives and India have been tense for some time now
Relations between the two countries soured after the pro-China Muizzu was sworn in last November. Several bilateral talks have taken place in the last few days to try to improve ties. Earlier this month, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar also visited the Maldives and met top Maldivian leaders, including President Muizzu. Earlier, Muizzu visited Delhi in June for the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new government. Our relationship has been strengthened again through active cooperation, reflecting the long-standing partnership between the Maldives and India.
