Ingredients for making Handwa
- Gram dal – 1/2 cup
- Urad dal – 2 tbsp
- Toor dal – 1/4 cup
- Rice – 1 cup
- Milk – 1 cup (ghee)
- Cabbage – 1/2 cup (chopped)
- Carrot – 1/4 cup (chopped)
- Ginger paste – 1/2 tsp
- Curd – 1/2 cup
- Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
- Chopped green chilli – 1
- Green coriander leaves – 2-3 tbsp
- Curry leaves – 10-12
- Red chilli powder – 1/4 tsp
- Sesame seeds – 1 tablespoon
- Fruit salt – 1 tbsp
- Mustard seeds – 3/4 tsp
- Cumin – 1/2 tsp
- Oil – 4 tbsp
- Asafoetida – 1 pinch
- salt to taste
how to point
- First of all, clean chana dal, urad dal, toor dal and rice and wash them with water two to three times.
- After this, after soaking all the things for 4 hours, remove the excess water and put all the things in the mixer jar.
- Add half a cup of curd to it and blend it to make a smooth and thick paste.
- – After this, keep the prepared batter in a big bowl.
- – After pouring the batter in the bowl, cover it and keep it overnight so that it can ferment properly.
- Fruit salt or Eno can also be used for this.
- After this, add green chilli, red chilli powder, turmeric, sugar, ginger paste and salt as per taste and mix well.
- Add 2 spoons of oil in it and mix.
- Handwa batter should be similar to idli batter.
- – Now put 3 spoons of oil in a pan and heat it on medium flame.
- Heat oil and prepare tadka by adding cumin seeds, mustard seeds, sesame seeds, asafoetida and curry leaves.
- – After a few seconds, add one and a half cup handvo batter and spread it well.
- – Now cover the pan and cook till the upper layer of Handvo dries.
- – After this turn it over and fry it.
- Cook until the handvo is completely cooked.
- Prepare handwa from all the batter.
- After this serve it with green chutney.
