Varanasi, 30 April (HIST). To increase the voting percentage in Varanasi Lok Sabha elections, District Magistrate/District Election Officer S. Rajalingam held a meeting with all the Assistant Returning Officers, officials related to the sweep in the Commissionerate Auditorium.
In the meeting, the District Magistrate said that there is a need to make every possible effort by making the right strategy to ensure maximum participation of voters in the Lok Sabha elections in the district. The District Magistrate said that for this, special awareness programs should be run in the booths where there was less turnout in the last election and motivate more and more people to vote. Also, by making a booth-wise list of those who did not vote in the last election, all those voters should be contacted and motivated to vote.
The District Magistrate said that all concerned officers including the Assistant Returning Officer must participate in voter awareness related programs. He said that it is the responsibility of all of us to increase the voting percentage. All AROs and concerned officers must also visit the field to increase the voting percentage. For this also take help of local employees like BLO, Anganwadi etc. The District Magistrate also asked to form a team of ASHA, sanitation workers etc. to call the voters on the election day. He directed to run a comprehensive voter awareness campaign at the district level as well as in tehsil, development block, village level, school, college etc.
Chief Development Officer Himanshu Nagpal, Deputy District Election Officer, ARO, District School Inspector, District Basic Education Officer and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
