Navratri is now very close. During Navratri most of the people worship Mataji and keep fast for 9 days. Then in this 9 day fast you can make delicious Sabudana Kheer with dry potato bhaji and gram flour.

Sabudana Kheer is a popular dessert

Sabudana Kheer is a popular dessert that is served during Navratri and fasting days. However, you don't have to be fasting to enjoy it, you can make it and enjoy it anytime.

Ingredients for making Sabudana Kheer

  • 1/2 cup mild soapy water
  • 4 cups of milk (1 liter)
  • 4 tablespoons sugar (1/4 cup)
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  • 4-5 saffron strands, soaked in 1 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp almonds, chopped (optional)
  • 1/2 cup water

Soap pudding recipe

Wash the soap 2-3 times with water and drain the excess water. Soak it in 1/2 cup water for 2 hours. In 2 hours it will absorb all the water and double in size. If you want to use large size soap granules then soak them in 1 cup water for at least 5 hours.

Heat the milk on medium flame in a heavy bottom pan. When the milk starts boiling, add the soaked soapnuts to it. – Add sugar and mix well with a spoon. Cook it on medium flame till it becomes transparent and soft. It will take about 10-15 minutes.

Lower the flame and add cardamom powder and saffron. Cook it while stirring continuously with a spoon until the milk thickens. It will take about 5-7 minutes. – Turn off the gas and take out the halwa in a serving bowl. Garnish it with chopped almonds and serve hot or cold.

Ingredients for making dry vegetables

6-7 boiled potatoes, drained

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 3 tomatoes finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp ginger chilli paste
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons coriander
  • 2 tsp Kashmiri chilli
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • salt to taste
  • 2 bowls chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • 4-5 tbsp oil
  • Oil for frying

Method for making dry vegetables

– First of all turn on the gas and heat oil in a pan. – When the oil is hot, add cumin seeds to it, when the cumin seeds are roasted, add ginger-chilli paste and tomatoes.

Keep stirring the tomatoes for 5 minutes. – After it becomes smooth, add all the spices. Then add potatoes and mix everything. – Now turn off the gas and take out the dry bhaji in a serving bowl and serve by sprinkling green coriander.

  • 3 large bowls of gram flour
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 bowl chopped coriander leaves
  • salt to taste

Take flour in a bowl and add 1 tablespoon oil and mix the flour, then add coriander, salt, chilli, turmeric and water and knead a hard dough. – Now take small balls from it and make them round. – Now fry them in hot oil. So our Rajgara Puri is ready to serve.
