Ranchi, 8 October (Hindustan Reporter). Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar said that the objective of the sweep program is to make voters aware and motivate them to vote. Work by making special strategies to motivate voters by focusing on polling booth areas with low voting percentage.

On Tuesday, he was holding a review meeting through video conferencing from Nirvachan Sadan with the Deputy Election Officers of all the districts and the nodal officers of SVEEP to make the strategy related to SVEEP. He directed the Deputy Election Officers of all the districts and the nodal officers of SVEEP to prepare an action plan and calendar related to voter awareness in view of the upcoming assembly elections and make available the programs for each day without any delay. He said that the officials have to tag the sweep activities of each day in the social media platforms of the Chief Electoral Officer and the Election Commission of India and along with this, the report of the entire programs has to be made available to the headquarters at the end of each day.

Kumar said that the concerned officers should not show any negligence in the work of sweep. Ensure compliance with the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India related to sweep activities at every level. To increase the voting percentage, organize programs promoting local connectivity in all the districts. He said that to motivate voters in urban areas to vote, they should reach out to every house and make them aware by coordinating with the officials of the Urban Development Department and the Municipal Corporation.

Kumar said that the voting day has to be organized like a festival and the work of promoting family voting has to be done on priority. Along with this, it should be widely publicized among voters in urban areas by speeding up the voting process of voters at polling stations, reducing long queues and providing assured minimum facilities at polling stations.

On this occasion, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Dev Das Dutta gave online training through PPT to the Deputy Electoral Officers of all the districts, Sweep Nodal Officers and officials of the Sweep Cell constituted in the districts. In the training, he learned how to outline special sweep programs in polling booth areas with low turnout in all the districts and how to motivate voters through sweeps.
