News India Live, Digital Desk: In Maharashtra, ‘Thecha’ made of chilli and garlic is eaten with great relish. When it is flavored with soya chunks, it becomes not only tasty but also healthy. You can serve it with jowar or bajra bhakri (roti) or paratha.
Ingredients
Soya Chunks (Large): 1 cup (boiled and mashed)
Green chilly: 8-10 (can do more or less as per your choice)
Garlic: 15-20 cloves (more garlic tastes better)
Peanuts: 2 tbsp (roasted)
Green Coriander: Half cup (finely chopped)
Cumin: 1 tbsp
Oil: 2 tbsp
Salt: as per taste
Lemon Juice: 1 tbsp
Method of preparation (Step-by-Step Recipe)
1. Prepare Soybean: First of all, soak the soya chunks in hot water for 10-15 minutes. When they become soft, squeeze out the water and grind them coarsely in a mixer or mash them into small pieces by hand.
2. Fry Chilli-Garlic: Heat one spoon oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, green chillies and garlic cloves and fry until light black marks appear on the chillies.
3. Prepare thecha (crushing): Put roasted chillies, garlic and roasted peanuts in a ‘mortar’ and grind them coarsely. Keep in mind that do not make it a fine paste in the mixer, because the real fun of thecha lies in its coarseness.
4. Tadka and Final Mix: Now heat the remaining oil in the same pan. Add coarsely ground soybean into it and fry for 3-4 minutes until it becomes light golden. Now add the prepared chilli-garlic mixture (thecha) to it.
5. Finishing Touch: Add salt and finely chopped green coriander on top. After mixing well, finally add lemon juice. your warm soya thecha It’s ready!
