Mysore-Darbhanga train accident: Sad news came out from Tamil Nadu late last night. Where a major train accident occurred. Mysore-Darbhanga Express collides with a goods train at Tiruvallur, injuring at least 20 people. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. Two coaches of the express train caught fire, while 12 to 13 coaches derailed.
After the Tamil Nadu train accident, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav is monitoring the situation from the Railway War Room in Delhi. He has spoken to the railway officials and instructed to take all the passengers safely to their destination.
What did the Chief Officer of South Western Railway say?
“Train No. 12578 Mysore-Darbhanga Express derailed at around 20.30 hrs on Chennai-Gudur section between Ponneri-Kavarappatai railway stations of Chennai division (46 km from Chennai),” Chief Public Relations Officer of South Western Railway said. When alighting from Times of India, there was a collision with a goods train coming from behind at the station, due to which the parcel van parked near the engine caught fire, which was extinguished by the fire brigade.
A total of 12-13 coaches derailed. There is no news of any casualty yet. All the injured passengers have been admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Rail traffic is closed in both directions.”
The route of these trains has been changed

The routes of 07696 Ramagundam Secunderabad Special, 06063 Coimbatore Dhanbad Express Special train, 13351 Dhanbad Alha Pooja Express and 02122 Jabalpur Madurai Express train have been changed.
When and how did the accident happen?
The accident occurred at around 8:27 pm when the express train was passing through Ponari station. As soon as the train entered the loop line, the crew got a severe shock. After this there was a collision with a goods train standing on the same line.
Train services on the Chennai-Vijayawada route have been disrupted due to the accident and officials are working to restore normalcy. A medical relief van and a rescue team from Chennai Central have been sent to the spot to help. General Manager of Southern Railway, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Chennai Division and other senior officials have reached the accident site.
