A major railway accident took place in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. Here, 10 coaches of Dibrugarh Express going from Chandigarh to Assam via Gorakhpur derailed. According to the latest information, 4 people have died in this accident while many people have been injured. This incident took place at Motiganj border of Gorakhpur Railway Division. As soon as the information about the incident was received, all the senior railway officials reached the spot and the rescue operation is still going on. Passengers trapped in the affected coaches are being evacuated. After the accident, the movement of trains has been affected.
Apart from railway officials, a team of police administration has also reached the spot. Medical team has also been called and every effort is being made to rescue the passengers trapped in the compartment. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of this incident.
An investigation has been started into the cause of the accident. It is being speculated that this may have happened due to damaged track or high speed. Officials will soon make public all the information in this regard.
