Major rule for medical students: Strict verification of caste certificates to be conducted at RIMS prior to MBBS admissions under reserved categories.

A very important and big news has come out for the students who dream of taking admission in prestigious medical institutions across the country. The administration has further tightened the rules for the students seeking admission to MBBS course in Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences i.e. RIMS, the largest and premier medical institute of Jharkhand. Every year, after passing the NEET exam, thousands of students secure their seats in medical colleges through the counseling process, but many times there are cases of taking admission on reserved seats on the basis of fraud or wrong documents. This time, RIMS management has taken a historic and strict step to completely stop such irregularities and rigging. Now, before taking admission in the institute, a thorough and high level scrutiny of the caste certificates of all the reserved category candidates will be done, only after which they will be given final admission.

Administration took strict steps to curb fraud

The main objective behind this strict step taken by the RIMS administration is to ensure that not a single seat of the reserved category goes into the hands of any ineligible or person with fake documents, but only the genuine and eligible needy students can get its full benefit. In the last few years, complaints were being received in many educational institutions of the country that some people get admission on reserved seats by making fake or erroneous caste certificates, due to which hardworking and entitled students are deprived of their rights. To prevent such frauds, the Director and Admission Committee of RIMS have decided that the authenticity of the caste certificate will be specially checked during the verification of documents at the time of counselling. For this, full cooperation is being taken from the District Administration and Deputy Commissioner offices of the respective districts in the verification of documents, so that no mistake can be made at any level.

Guidelines and necessary documents for students and parents

After the implementation of this new and strict rule of RIMS, students taking admission in MBBS and their parents have now been advised to be extremely careful during counselling. Students have been instructed to keep all their original documents as well as their caste certificate, income certificate and residence certificate ready in absolutely updated and valid form. If any doubt, technical deficiency or forgery is found in the certificate of any student, not only his admission will be canceled immediately, but legal and punitive action can also be taken against him as per rules. With this transparency, on one hand there will be complete purity in the admission process, on the other hand it will also boost the morale of the deserving students that they are being completely treated.

This step will prove to be a milestone for transparency of medical education.

Academicians and experts in the medical field believe that this step taken by RIMS sets an excellent example for other medical colleges also. Unless such a strict and transparent system is implemented at the entry level itself, it will be difficult to remove the shortcomings in the education system. The RIMS administration has made it clear that the entire process of counseling and admission will be completed with transparency within the stipulated time frame, so that the studies of the students can start on time. Students who are fully eligible and whose documents are valid, there is no need to panic, as this rule is only to crack down on those who want to take advantage of the system by using unfair means.
