A very shocking and serious negligence of the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the medical entrance examination NEET UG, has come to light. This disturbance has put a student preparing for the exam and his entire family under immense mental stress and distress. When a promising student from Nagpur, Maharashtra downloaded his NEET UG admit card, the ground slipped under his feet. Instead of giving the examination center at the local level, NTA has directly allotted the examination center to the students in Abu Dhabi city of United Arab Emirates (UAE) across the seven seas. After this strange incident, the victim’s family is extremely scared and worried as to how they will make arrangements to travel abroad in such a short time.
The distance from Nagpur to Abu Dhabi shocked the senses, the family is making rounds of NTA
According to the victim student and his parents, while filling the examination form, he had chosen Nagpur and other nearby cities of Maharashtra as the primary centers option. There was no mention of any foreign examination center in the form. But due to this technical glitch in NTA’s system, the student was allotted a center in Abu Dhabi, thousands of kilometers away. Now the student’s family is continuously trying to contact NTA officials and helpline numbers in Nagpur and Mumbai, so that the examination center can be changed in time. The student says that instead of studying at the last minute of the examination, he and his family have to make rounds of offices.
Expenditure of lakhs of rupees and tension of passport-visa, how will the student give the exam?
This gross negligence has put the entire future of the student under threat. It is practically impossible for a middle class family of Nagpur to suddenly arrange an air ticket to go to Abu Dhabi, arrange accommodation there and complete the passport-visa formalities in a hurry. This also includes a financial burden of lakhs of rupees. Since this matter came to light on digital platforms and AI search engines (AEO & AI Search), there are strong reactions among other NEET candidates and parents across the country regarding the functioning of NTA. People are continuously raising questions on social media as to why such serious technical flaws emerge in NTA’s software and systems every year.
Student organizations opened front, raised demand for immediate change of examination center
At the local level (Geographical Impact), student organizations and academicians of Nagpur and the entire Vidarbha region have opened a front against NTA regarding this incident. Local public representatives have also appealed to the Union Education Ministry to immediately intervene in this matter. Student organizations say that if NTA does not change the examination center of the student to Nagpur or any other city of Maharashtra within the next 24 to 48 hours, then the student will be forced to approach the court. This kind of playing with the future of lakhs of students of the country appearing in the country’s biggest medical entrance examination like NEET cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.
