A very painful and heartbreaking news is coming out from Birbhum district, a famous religious and tourist destination of West Bengal. During the holy month of Sawan, a massive fire suddenly broke out in a four-storey hotel located in Tarapith temple town between 4 to 5 am on Monday morning. In this horrific fire incident, more than 6 people sleeping inside the hotel were burnt alive and died a painful death, while many others got serious burns. This sudden incident created panic in the entire area and there was shouting and chaos all around.
Fire spread from reception, black smoke spread all around
According to local media reports and eyewitnesses, the fire reportedly started from the ground floor or reception area of the hotel. Within no time, huge flames spread throughout the building. Eyewitnesses said that fiber was heavily used for the interior of the hotel reception, due to which the fire took a terrible form in a very short time and thick black smoke spread all around. The smoke was so heavy that initially the fire brigade and police personnel had to face great difficulty in entering inside for rescue operations.
A large number of devotees were staying in the hotel due to Sawan.
Since the month of Sawan is going on these days and a large number of devotees from all over the country come to Tarapeeth to have darshan of Mata, there was a lot of crowd in the hotel rooms. At the time of the incident, most of the guests staying in the hotel were fast asleep. Due to the sudden spread of smoke and heat of the fire, people did not even get a chance to recover. As soon as the information was received, several fire brigade vehicles and local police immediately reached the spot and relief work was started. The firemen controlled the fire after a lot of effort and immediately took out the burnt people and took them to Rampurhat Government Medical College and Hospital.
Short circuit is believed to be the cause of the accident.
According to initial information received from hospital and police sources, initially 5 people were confirmed dead in this fire, which has increased to 6 to 7. At the same time, the hotel management and officials initially claim that the fire was caused by a short circuit, however, the administration has started an official investigation into the real cause of the fire. After this tragic accident, the administration has ordered an investigation into the safety standards and is said to provide all possible assistance to the victim’s families.
