News India Live, Digital Desk: We all have done this sometimes when we are angry with someone (especially a partner or friend), we stop talking to them. We call this expressing our ‘displeasure’. But Sanjay Dutt’s daughter Trishala Dutt Says that this method is actually a kind of mental game or ‘manipulation’.
Trishala recently shared a post on Instagram, in which the reality of ‘Silent Treatment’ has been explained. It is like showing a mirror to those people who believe in tormenting the other person by remaining silent.
There is a difference between silence and boundary
Trishala clearly explained in her post that there is a world of difference between creating a ‘boundary’ and ‘cultivating silence’.
- Creating boundaries: This means that you make some rules to protect yourself. Such as: “I need some time right now,” or “I don’t want to talk about this right now.” This is to protect yourself.
- Silent Treatment: Its purpose is to to decorate (Punishment) happens. When you deliberately do not respond to the other person’s message or call so that he/she feels bad, then it is a kind of ’emotional manipulation’.
“The punishing silence…”
In the note shared by Trishala, it was written “Silence that is used to punish someone is not a boundary. It is emotional manipulation.”
This post explains that when a person becomes silent so that the other person pleads or apologizes, he wants to gain control in that relationship. This is not a sign of a healthy relationship.
She often shares such things
Trishala lives in America and works as a therapist. This is not the first time that he has written such a deep thing. Even before this, she has spoken openly on love, betrayal, and mental trauma. He also explained in his post that people who use the silent treatment often avoid taking responsibility and make the other person feel that it is all their fault.
This advice of Trishala is important for all of us. Fights happen in every relationship, but ‘stopping the conversation’ is not a solution to the issue, rather it causes mental injury to the other person.
