Mahalakshmi Murder Case: After the murder of a 29-year-old woman in Bengaluru, the body was cut into pieces and kept in a refrigerator. The prime suspect in the murder, Mukti Rajan Pratap Rai (31), was found dead near Bhuinpur village in Odisha's Bhadrak district on Wednesday. On Saturday, the police found Mahalakshmi's body inside a refrigerator in her house in Vinayak Nagar, Bengaluru. The police formed special teams to nab the accused and eventually identified Ryan as the prime suspect.

According to police in Odisha's Dhusuri, Rai allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree. Officer-in-charge of the station, Shantanu Kumar Jena, said they have received information about the suicide and the deceased has been identified as Rai.

Jena said the report was received at 8.15 am. His body was hanging from a tree on the roadside near Bhuinpur. We sent him for postmortem at around 9 am and then handed over the body to his family.

Odisha Additional Director General (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar said that the police have recovered a suicide note in which Rai has allegedly confessed to the crime. Kumar said that Odisha Police has already registered a case of suicide. Based on the suicide note, Bengaluru Police has confirmed that he is the accused in this heinous murder.

When asked if the Odisha police had handed over the suicide note to the Bengaluru police, Kumar said it is now a court document. The Bengaluru police will have to first submit a request and take permission from the court, after which we will hand over the suicide note, Kumar said.
