New Delhi: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, who became a party to the PIL in the Supreme Court after the Hindberg report in 2023, has raised important questions regarding the allegations against SEBI Chairperson Madhavi Puri Buch.
While acknowledging that the SEBI chairman must have declared his assets every year like IAS and IPS officers serving in the central and state governments, where are the details declared by him, income tax returns and details of his investments? How can this be accessed and studied by the public also becomes important.
Moitra initially raised a total of 13 questions, after which on Sunday evening the Buch couple gave a new and detailed second statement and again raised the same questions for which Moitra is not getting answers.
1. You (SEBI Chairman Buch and her husband) admit to investing in the Global Development Opportunity Fund but deliberately conceal the name of Anil Ahuja, director of Adani Enterprises and Adani Power. This fund is being used by Vinod Adani.
2. Ahuja's statement makes no sense unless you clarify that this fund has nothing to do with Adani. Given the earlier claims that Singapore details are not available then who will correct Ahuja's statement.
3. You yourself admit that Dhawal was appointed as an advisor to Butch at Blackstone after he became a full member of SEBI. Soon after this, SEBI approved Blackstone's real estate investment fund. Is this a benefit being talked about or not?
4. On one hand you say that both the companies (Agora Advisors in Singapore and India) are now defunct but on other hand you report that husband Dhaval is managing them so actually it is your duty to disclose full details about this company.
5. Day told the Supreme Court's investigation committee that you were once an investor in the Global Fund and now this fund itself is being investigated.
6. As SEBI Chairman, you met Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani twice. What was discussed in these two meetings and what was its purpose?
7. You are saying that Blackstone is included in the list of companies in which you cannot participate during SEBI proceedings, how many other companies are there in which you cannot participate?
8. You have direct experience of dealing with global funds as an investor, so you are saying that it is not possible to get information about foreign funds in a SEBI investigation?
9. Did you participate in the ongoing investigation against Adani or not?
10. Have you reported foreign investments and details of earnings and shareholding of your company Agora to the appropriate authority?
11. Who was giving business to Agora Advisors? Who was from India and is still giving business to this company?
