Lucknow, 21 October (HS). Gorakhgiri hill situated in Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh has been the holy place of revered saint Guru Gorakhnathji. It was here that he lived with his disciples. The central government has taken the initiative for tourism development here. Tourism facilities will also be developed around the mountain, famous for its distinctive granite rock formations, as well as the Rahiliya Sun Temple and Kirat Sagar Lake. Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh said that this site was selected under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme 2.0 of the Government of India. Atop the Gorakhgiri Hills, which is famous for its distinctive granite rock formations. The site has caves and waterfalls, offering a picturesque natural landscape. Visitors here can enjoy the thrill of rock climbing, while others can opt for a peaceful picnic amidst the natural surroundings. Also, there is a 9th century Sun Temple made of granite. Mahoba's rich history is reflected in its many lakes, including Kirat Sagar. Kirat Sagar Lake was built by Kirtivarman between 1060-1100 AD. It is noted for its impressive granite embankments.
