Mahila Samman Savings Certificate: Various small savings schemes are being run by the central government to develop the habit of saving among people and be a part of wealth creation. Exclusively for women, the Mahila Samman Savings Certificate is a two-year savings scheme offering 7.5 percent interest rate. Those who want to avail this can visit the post office. Apart from this, Mahila Samman can open an account in selected banks including Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Bank of India, PNB and Union Bank of India.

How to invest

Under this scheme, the woman herself or the guardian of minor girls will have to pay a minimum of Rs. 1000 to a maximum of Rs. 2 lakh can be deposited. Only one deposit can be made from one account. If two accounts are opened under this scheme by the same customer, then he has to keep a gap of 3 months in the date of investment in both the accounts. Whose interest rate is 7.5 percent per annum. In which interest is received on quarterly basis with compound benefit. Interest is also received on compounding i.e. compound interest. Withdrawal can be done after maturity at the end of two years. Under the pre-maturity withdrawal provision, 40% of the amount can be withdrawn at the end of one year.
