Ranchi, 18 October (HS). Valmiki Jayanti-cum-Diksharambh program was organized on Friday under the aegis of Sanskrit Department of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Sanskrit University, Ranchi. On this special occasion, the importance of Sanskrit language and culture was discussed and the program concluded with a resolution to further strengthen Sanskrit education.
The chief guest of the program, Dr. Shailesh Kumar Mishra, Chairman of the Sanskrit Department of Government Sanskrit College, threw light on the importance of Valmiki's life and his epic Ramayana. He said that Maharishi Valmiki is not only a poet, but through his immortal work he taught the human society to follow the path of morality, religion and duty. Through Ramayana, Valmiki ji not only spread religious and cultural values but also gave the message of an ideal life to humanity.
Dr. Mishra urged the students to imbibe the ideals of Valmiki and maintain morality and values in the society. He said that Ramayana composed by Valmiki with seven kandas and twenty-four thousand verses paves the way for every poet. The selection of Shri Ram as the hero of Ramayana on the advice of Narada Muni was the result of his realistic and people-friendly thinking.
Sanskrit is not a language, but it is the soul of Indian culture: Dhananjay
Dr. Dhananjay Vasudev Dwivedi, Head of the Sanskrit Department of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee University, said that Sanskrit language is not just a language, but it is the soul of Indian culture. Understanding and spreading the knowledge hidden in Sanskrit literature is very important for the upliftment of our society. While discussing the life of Valmiki in detail, he said that by composing the epic Ramayana, he has left a legacy which influences our lifestyle and thinking.
Students of Sanskrit Department also participated in the program and gave various presentations based on the life and works of Valmiki. The students also recited some important parts of Ramayana. The program started with lighting of the lamp and offering of flowers. Vedic invocation was done by departmental student Bhola Tiwari and secular invocation was done by Shivam Narayan. On this occasion, Amrita Kumari, Tanu Singh, Anamika Kumari, Kriti Pandey, Pallavi, Prerna, Deep, Pratima, Maneka etc. presented various cultural programs. The guests were introduced and welcomed by Ashish Ohdar and the vote of thanks was given by Dr. Jagdamba Prasad Singh. The stage was moderated by Ayush Kumar.
