Maharashtra government in action on Mumbai Ghatkopar tragedy, IPS dismissed

In the hoarding case that happened last month in the capital of Maharashtra, Mumbai, the Maharashtra government has taken a big action and dismissed IPS officer Kaiser Khalid. IPS Kaiser Khalid was working as the Commissioner of Government Railway Police. It is alleged that IPS Khalid allowed the installation of hoardings without the approval of the DGP office. 17 people died and more than 70 people were injured when the hoarding fell.

Negligence was found in the investigation

Based on the report, the government took action and dismissed IPS officer Kaiser Khalid. The place where the hoarding was put up was the Railway Police Station. IPS Kaiser Khalid had given permission to put up this hoarding near the petrol pump. Investigation revealed that the base of the hoarding was weak and insufficient to bear its weight.

BJP leader Kirit Somaiya made serious allegations

BJP leader Kirit Somaiya recently shared a series of posts on social media platform X and made serious allegations against IPS Kaiser Khalid. The post claimed that 'Ego Media Private Limited (of which Bhide was a director) paid Rs 5 crore to various railway police and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials for 'two dozen illegal hoardings' in Ghatkopar and Dadar areas of Mumbai

Advertising company owner and employees arrested

The Maharashtra government formed a committee under the chairmanship of former Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court Dilip Bhosale to investigate the Ghatkopar accident. In this case, Bhavesh Bhide, owner of Ego Media Private Limited, the company that put up the hoardings, has been arrested. Along with this, company employees Janhavi Marathe, Sagar Patil and structural engineer Manoj Sanghu have also been arrested. The SIT of Mumbai Police is interrogating BMC engineer Sunil Dalvi.
