In such a situation, with the resignation of Dhananjay Munde, a ministerial post of NCP quota was vacant, which has been tried to fill through Chhagan Bhujbal. Bhujbal will replace Munde in the state cabinet.
Munde resigned as a minister in March, citing health reasons in March. However, one of his associate Valmik Karad was under pressure to resign after the name of the Beed Sarpanch Deshmukh came to light. Bhujbal has also been the Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister of the state earlier. After partition in NCP, he left the Sharad Pawar camp and stood with Ajit Pawar. He publicly expressed his displeasure at not getting a place in the cabinet constituted by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in December 2024.
Bhujbal had earlier claimed that he was excluded from the cabinet for opposing Manoj Jaranga, who demanded reservation for the Maratha community in jobs and education. He also said that in democracy, everyone has the right to express their views.
