Mahakumbh: 21 projects worth Rs 395 crore got approval in the video conferencing meeting of the apex committee

Prayagraj, 21 February (HS). With a view to making Maha Kumbh 2025 divine and grand, the seventh meeting of the apex committee headed by the Chief Secretary was held through video conferencing. In which 21 projects worth about Rs 395 crore were approved. This includes 5 projects of Prayagraj Development Authority, 2 of Municipal Corporation, 1 of Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation, 2 of UP Power Limited, 4 of PWD and 2 of Prayagraj Fair Authority.

Under the works being carried out by Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation, all necessary approvals have been received to complete the semi-finished 2 lane overpass near the airport from Begum Bazaar to Bhagwatpur Road. Now the remaining work will be completed soon. Under the works being done by the Municipal Corporation, after the meeting held with the stakeholders of the city, 199 projects of 91 wards were presented, all of which got approval. Upgradation of identified kutcha roads of all 91 wards (road improvement work through Interlocking-CC) and construction of pucca drains and brick drains will be done.

The work of upgradation and beautification of 7 ghats of the district also got approval. This includes Balua Ghat, Arail Ghat, Mauj Giri Ghat, Kali Ghat, Rasulabad Ghat, Chhatnag Ghat and Nageshwar Ghat. Under beautification, arrangement of changing rooms on the ghats, facade and painting, lighting by designer poles, tree plantation, stone ruling, stone bollards, benches and dustbins and beautification of pre-made umbrella will also be done. Apart from this, vending zones will be established at three places in the city including Bakshi Dam, Madhwapur Vegetable Market and GT Jawahar Square. Along with allotment of space for shops, work of lights, railing, drinking water and interlocking will be done at all three places.

In this sequence, places have also been identified for the installation of idols of Valmiki and Brahmaji. Statues of Valmiki will be installed at Andava intersection and statues of Brahmaji will be installed at Leprosy intersection. These statues will be approximately 30 feet high and will be made of colored marble. The surrounding area will also be beautified. Under the development of many roads of the district, road improvement work from Yashlok Hospital to Balsan intersection in Tagore Town, road strengthening work from Shyama Prasad Mukherjee intersection (Leprosy intersection) to Rajju Bhaiya College on Prayagraj Mirzapur National Highway, in Saraswati Hitech City campus. Work of widening, strengthening and beautification of the road from DPS Tirahe to Saraswati Hitech City for the access road to the parking lot, work of strengthening and beautification of the road from Cemetery Road Bairahna Kasing to Yamuna Bank Road and repair of the pre-built jogging track in Chandrashekhar Azad Park. And work of strengthening the pre-built road in the park will also be done. Apart from this, beautification and landscaping work will also be done on the missing part of the GT road from Civil Airport to GT Jawahar Square via IIIT Square, Bajrang Tiraha. Façade lighting will also be done on Shastri Bridge and the wall of the fort.

Prayagraj Mela Authority has also approved the works of topographical survey, mathematical hydraulic modeling study, bamboo pin installation and dredging in coordination with the Inland Waterways Authority of India to regulate the flow of river Ganga. Along with this, training programs will also be conducted for behavioral change, project management, modules, soft skills work and to improve the performance of distance guides, sailors, volunteers, Kumbh Seva Mitras, vendors, police personnel and departmental officers. In view of this, letters have already been written to some major institutions of the country. Prayagraj Mela Authority will also organize a 12-month fellowship program under which quality inputs and implementation support will be provided from leading institutions of the country for works like Sanitation, Mobility, Crowd Management, Security and Surveillance, Communication Services, Temporary Infrastructure Development, Layout Planning and other works. 55 people will be tied up.
