News India Live, Digital Desk: Shani Dev is considered to be the disciple of Lord Shiva. It was Shiva who had given Shani the power to punish and give results according to his deeds. But one day the disciple himself said something to his Guru i.e. Mahadev which left him astonished.
Shani Dev’s warning to Mahadev
According to mythology, once Shani Dev reached Mount Kailash. He bowed to Mahadev with great respect and then said something important. Shani Dev said, “Lord, your greatness has its place, but the wheel of justice does not stop for anyone. Tomorrow my ‘Vakra Drishti’ is going to fall on you and the effect of Sade Sati will start on you.”
Mahadev is an innocent person who lives in fun and enjoyment. He laughingly asked Shani Dev that for how long will this gaze of yours remain on me? Shani Dev replied, “You will have to bear its effects for Saava Prahar (ie about quarter to four hours).”
Shiv ji’s attempt at ‘hide and seek’
Bholenath thought that after all he is Shiva, what effect will a small planet have on him. But while playing, he thought of saving himself from Shani Dev. Mahadev came to earth the next day and while performing his leela, took the form of an elephant (Matang) and hid in the dense forests.
He thought that by becoming an elephant he would hide himself in the guise of a normal animal and the time of Sade Sati would pass. For about a quarter of an hour he kept roaming here and there in the forest in the form of an elephant. As soon as the time ended, Mahadev came back in his divine form and reached Kailash.
Victory of Shani Dev and honor of Mahadev
As soon as Mahadev reached Kailash, he encountered a smiling Shani Dev. Lord Shiva laughed and said, “You see Shani, you had thought of troubling me, but I had fun in the forest as an elephant and spent my time. Your Sade Sati could not harm me.”
Then Shani Dev replied very politely – “Lord, my Saade Sati was successful. Even though you are the master of the world, but because of Saade Sati, you had to become a wild animal i.e. ‘elephant’ from God. It was the result of Saade Sati that the lord of Tribhuvan kept wandering in the form of an elephant for four hours.”
Shiv ji smiled. He came to know that no one can escape from Shani Dev’s law of justice, whether he is an ordinary person or Mahadev in person.
