Mumbai Crime Branch's SIT has detained actor Sahil Khan in the Mahadev betting app case. He has been detained in Chhattisgarh and is being brought to Mumbai. He was arrested in Chhattisgarh by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Mumbai Cyber Cell after his anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the Bombay High Court.
SIT had recently interrogated Khan in this case. The SIT is probing alleged illegal transactions between the promoters of the controversial Mahadev betting app and some financial and real estate companies in the state. According to the FIR registered by the police in this case, this scam is worth about Rs 15 thousand crores.
Police said that investigation is going on against Khan and 31 others, under which their bank accounts, mobile phones, laptops and other technical devices are being examined. The officer said that so far one person has been arrested in this case and the investigation is going on. Sahil Khan, who has worked in films like 'Style' and 'Excuse Me', is a fitness expert.
Sahil claimed that his contract was for 24 months, with a monthly payment of Rs 3 lakh for posting promotional videos on his social media. Despite this, the court rejected his bail plea citing his direct involvement in illegal activities. Authorities noted that Sahil Khan, posing as a fitness expert and YouTuber, allegedly arranged meetings with celebrities with the intention of promoting the app and enticing more people to use it.
