Kishanganj, 16 July (HS). Tight security arrangements have been made in the district to celebrate Muharram festival in a peaceful and fear-free environment. Police officers have been deputed along with magistrates in a total of 277 places for security.
Police station incharges have been given instructions to take action against anti-social elements. In the previous meeting, it was instructed that no procession should be taken out during Muharram without a license. Processions should be taken out only on the fixed route. Magistrates have been deputed at all sensitive and important places. Strict action will be taken against miscreants and rumour mongers.
District Magistrate Tushar Singla and District Police Captain Sagar Kumar, by issuing a joint order, have deputed magistrates and police officers to successfully complete the law and order maintenance and other administrative arrangements on the occasion of Muharram festival. SDM Latifur Rahman Ansari and SDPO Gautam Kumar will monitor the arrangements. SDPO 2 is monitoring the arrangements in Thakurganj police station area. Control rooms have been set up at the district and block levels to monitor the security arrangements during the festival. The district control room has been set up in the disaster office premises. Its number is 06456-225152. Block-level control rooms will be in the main police stations of the block. The control room is functional from 6 am on Tuesday.
SP Sagar Kumar said that security arrangements have been made to ensure that Muharram is celebrated in a peaceful environment. Information about the route of Muharram procession is being taken in advance and social media is being monitored. All social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram will be monitored. He said that strict action will be taken against unruly elements and rumour mongers. The control room at the subdivision and district level will keep an eye on all activities. A cyber cell has been formed to monitor social media. Two days before Muharram, SDM Latifur Rahman Ansari, SDPO Gautam Kumar and Sadar SHO Sandeep Kumar were inspecting the arrangements.
