Bhopal, 23 October (HS). New and Renewable Energy Minister Rakesh Shukla said that under the vision and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for solar energy and the efficient leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the state will be included among the leading states. In the year 2012, the capacity of plants installed from renewable energy sources in the state was less than 500 MW. In the last 12 years, the state's total installed capacity from renewable energy sources has increased to approximately 7 thousand MW. Thus, the share of renewable energy in the total energy capacity of the state has increased to approximately 21 percent.

Minister Shukla was talking to the media on Wednesday. He said that in the coming years the installed capacity of plants will be increased to 20 thousand MW through renewable energy. He said that to fulfill the requirement of 20 thousand MW, our government has given in-principle approval of 300-300 MW capacity solar park project for Dhar and Sagar districts on October 21, 2024. The electricity produced from these projects will be purchased by MPPMCL through tender by setting the minimum rate, due to which the state will be able to get cheap electricity.

Minister Shukla said that M.P. It is a state rich in solar energy, in which all-round development is being done in the field of solar energy. This includes the Gudh project of Rewa, Omkareshwar and Neemuch projects in the west, the proposed project of Morena in the north, and the proposed project of Sagar in the middle and south. He said that the state already has the distinction of having Asia's largest solar plant of 750 MW capacity established in Rewa district, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Modi.

Minister Shukla said that farmers in the state are also being given the opportunity to become energy producers. Through Prime Minister Kusum-'A' and Kusum-'S', we are also doing the work of converting the food giver into energy giver with full readiness.

Under KUSUM-A, projects up to 2 MW can be set up by farmers on their land. Projects can be undertaken within a radius of 5 kilometers of the identified sub-station. Farmers can also give their land on lease to development for Kusum-A projects. The electricity generated from the project is being purchased by the Power Management Company at the rate of Rs 3.25 per unit. So far, 30 MW capacity solar plants have been established by the farmers under KUSUM-A, about 600 MW projects have been selected and additional projects of one thousand MW are targeted.

Kusum-'S' projects are useful for supplying electricity during daytime for agriculture. Under the Kusum-'S' scheme, 529 MW projects have been selected and a total of 3 thousand MW projects are targeted.

So far, about 21 thousand pumps have been installed in the state under Kusum-'B'. Apart from this, a target of one lakh solar pumps has been set for the availability of solar pumps for the farmers of the state. At present, tender has been issued for the installation of 52 thousand solar pumps.

M.P. The work of installation of solar rooftop on all government buildings in mission mode by Energy Development Corporation is targeted to be completed through innovation by the end of the year 2025. These plants will be established under RESCO project. Under RESCO project, plants will be set up in government buildings at zero investment. The electricity produced from these plants will be available to the concerned government office at a rate lower than the current electricity rate.
