Bhopal, 21 November (HS). Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board participated in the ongoing 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa and promoted film shooting possibilities in the state. Principal Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Tourism and Culture Department and Managing Director of Tourism Board Shiv Shekhar Shukla and Additional Managing Director Bidisha Mukherjee discussed with film producers, directors, actors and stakeholders associated with the industry and invited them for shooting of film projects in the state.
A knowledge session was organized by the Tourism Board on Thursday during the Film Festival. Principal Secretary Shiv Shekhar Shukla along with film director Amar Kaushik, Aamir Khan Productions CEO Aparna Purohit, actor Abhishek Banerjee, actor Nitanshi Goyal, actor Sparsh Srivastava in the series ‘Lights, Camera, Collaboration: Government and Industry Partnership for Filming in Madhya Pradesh’ And actor-producer Vani Tiku Tripathi expressed his views. During this, Principal Secretary Shukla addressed Madhya Pradesh with the aim of encouraging film shooting in the state and establishing the state as a major film production destination. Informed about various points of film tourism policy.
Principal Secretary Shukla said that “Madhya Pradesh is proud to win the National Award for Film Friendly State twice for 2017 and 2020. The state’s rich cultural heritage, vibrant wildlife and sacred spiritual sites make the state’s diverse locations a natural film set. He mentioned the popularity of the state by giving examples of recently shot films and web series (Stree-2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa-3, Lapata Ladies, Panchayat, Maharani, Gullak etc.). He gave details of the financial assistance provided to film producers by the state government and informed about the simple and transparent process like single-window clearance for approval of shooting.
Shukla said that access to the historical sites, national parks, and rural areas of the state is easy. All necessary facilities like electricity, internet, and transportation are available in the said areas. There is full cooperation from the local administration and community during the shooting. He said that Madhya Pradesh is the best place for film shooting in the country. is identified as an “affordable and convenient” destination. Principal Secretary Shukla urged the filmmakers to bring proposals for shooting films at locations in the state and assured all possible help in the shooting from the administration. In the knowledge session, filmmakers appreciated the film tourism policy of Madhya Pradesh. Several production houses showed interest for future projects in the state.
Film Tourism Policy 2.0 soon – Principal Secretary Shukla
In the session, Principal Secretary Shukla informed that, on the basis of suggestions received from filmmakers, experts related to the film industry and beneficiaries from across the country, Madhya Pradesh. Changes are being made in the film tourism policy. Film Tourism Policy 2.0 will be released soon. Which will be a novel and comprehensive policy designed to further encourage film shooting in the state. It aims to provide additional facilities and incentives to film producers so as to make Madhya Pradesh the top film production destination of India. Changes are being made in the policy to attract international filmmakers, promote untouched tourist destinations of the state, and create employment opportunities for the local community and youth.
