Chhatarpur, 15 November (HS). Police took major action and arrested 18 gamblers who were gambling in a hotel on the intervening night of Thursday-Friday at Saransh Hotel in Khajuraho, a famous tourist destination located in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh. It has been told that gamblers from Uttar Pradesh and Chhatarpur district were betting on winning or losing by reaching the hotel in luxury vehicles, when the police conducted a raid and seized goods worth Rs 1 crore along with cash worth Rs 20 lakh.
Disclosing the matter on Friday, Naugaon SDOP Chanchalesh Markam said that on Thursday night, information was received from the informer that gambling was being played on a large scale in Saransh Hotel of Khajuraho. The police team reached the hotel in disguise and surrounded it and carried out the operation. During this period, four luxury cars – two Toyota Innova, Hyundai, Venue and 13 mobile phones of Apple, Samsung OnePlus, goods worth Rs 1 crore including Rs 20 lakh in cash were seized and 18 gamblers who were gambling were arrested.

He said that the gamblers have been taken into custody and action is being taken by registering the crime under the Gambling Act at Khajuraho police station. In the said action, under the leadership and guidance of SDOP Naugaon Chanchalesh Markam, police team including station in-charge Harpalpur Inspector Pushpak Sharma, station in-charge Khajuraho sub-inspector Atul Dixit etc. played the main role.
