Madhakaul dam breaks due to strong pressure of Bagmati river in Sitamarhi, Bihar, many villages submerged | News India

Patna, 29 September (HS). Many areas of Bihar have been submerged due to the rains in Bihar's neighboring country Nepal for the last two days and the water being released from Nepal. The Bagmati and Adhwara group of rivers flowing in Sitamarhi district are in spate. Due to this surge in the river, Madhakaul Dam located in Belsand block of Sitamarhi broke and washed away due to the strong flow of water on Sunday evening.

Due to breach of embankment on the northern side of Bagmati river in Madhkaul of Belsand, the water of Bagmati is spreading rapidly in Madhkaul, Marar, Jafarpur, Olipur villages of the block. The villagers have informed the senior officer about the breakage of the said dam. After the information, SDO reached the spot.

After the breaking of the Madhakaul dam, the water is moving towards the village at a fast pace. About half a dozen nearby villages have been affected by the said flood, in which hundreds of houses have been affected.
