Made aware about nuclear energy, gave information to four hundred scientists

Lucknow, 26 April (HS). A special public awareness program was organized on Friday to spread awareness among the people about nuclear energy at the nationwide level and to remove the misconceptions related to it. On this occasion, information was obtained from about 400 scientists and nuclear scientists from Mumbai on the usefulness of nuclear energy and its contribution in the future.

Inaugurating the program on this occasion, Dr. (Prof.) Dr. B.N. Jagtap, President of INS and retired from Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), Mumbai and a renowned nuclear scientist of the country and affiliated with IIT, Mumbai. Informed the scientists about the progressive growth taking place in the field of nuclear science and technology in a self-reliant manner in India.

He told how INS is organizing similar programs across the country with the aim of informing people about the important aspects of nuclear energy and making people aware and educated about it. V Rajesh, Director (Technical), Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), Mumbai, said that nuclear energy has immense future potential. Through this, carbon emissions can be reduced by producing electricity in a clean, green, safe and economical manner.

On this occasion, scientist Dr. Rama Rao discussed with the people about nuclear science and technology and especially about all the important topics related to radiation like agriculture, health, climate change and its utility in food processing. He also provided information about the new research being done by the Department of Atomic Energy with the aim of improving the living standards of people through nuclear energy in the future.

On this occasion, General Manager (CMM) of Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), working under the Department of Atomic Energy, K. You. Aggarwal and Deputy General Manager (Media) and Amritesh Srivastava said that today there are 24 nuclear power plants operating at various places in India, from which 8180 MW capacity of electricity is being produced in a clean, green, safe and economical manner and in the future. The installation of more nuclear reactors in India will ensure availability of clean and green electricity in India.

On this occasion, a documentary film made by Amritesh Srivastava on the achievement of nuclear power house was also screened, through which the entire process of generating electricity in a nuclear power house has been shown. The film was greatly appreciated by the people present there.
