While addressing the people present in the market, DLSA panel advocate Madan Mohan Ram said that using tobacco is equivalent to consuming poison for humans. Smoking is a major cause of lung cancer, heart disease, chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Smoking also causes respiratory distress, respiratory ulcers and pregnancy related problems. The adverse effects of smoking on pregnancy range from low birth weight to increased incidence of spontaneous abortion, premature birth, stillbirth and neonatal deaths.
