Lucknow/Kanpur: The buses and long journey between the two largest industrial and commercial cities of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow and Kanpur, are now going to end. Soon this distance will be reduced to just 45 to 50 minutes. It will be possible that the state’s first elevated expressway, ie Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway, whose work is going on fast and aims to open to the public by August 2025.
Why is this expressway the most special?
It is not a common road, but a great example of engineering. Its biggest feature is that it is being made (elevated) on the pillars above the ground, not on the ground. It is being built parallel to the existing National Highway (NH-27), due to which the speed of construction is faster and the obstacles of land acquisition are also less.

Time will decrease: While this 63 km journey takes 1.5 to 2 hours now, after the expressway is built, this distance will be completed in just 45-50 minutes.

Inauguration goal: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) aims to complete the construction of this expressway before 31 August 2025, after which Prime Minister Narendra Modi can inaugurate it.
