Lucknow Aliganj Coaching Fire SIT Report: AC outers were installed inside, 18 engineers guilty; 14 days jail to the accused

Lucknow Aliganj Coaching Fire SIT Report: In the preliminary investigation of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the tragic coaching center fire in Aliganj, Lucknow, shocking and shocking revelations have come to light. According to the report of senior journalist Vishal Raghuvanshi, the construction of this multi-storey building was not only illegal, but there was such gross disregard for safety standards within it that it created a trap of death for innocent children.

In this high-profile case, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has also taken major action and found 18 engineers including 5 zonal officers guilty, while the court has sent all the four main arrested accused to jail for 14 days judicial custody.

5 most shocking revelations of SIT report: Willful negligence

The investigation report of the SIT clearly states that the manager, director and his associates of the establishment had completely disregarded the basic fire safety arrangements for commercial gain:

  • No way for smoke to escape: There was no ventilation or any such system in the entire building by which smoke could come out in case of fire. This became the biggest reason for suffocation at the time of the accident.

  • Installed AC outer inside: Technically, the outdoor units of the AC and heavy electrical equipment should be in the open air, but these were fitted in a very unsafe and irregular manner inside the building itself, due to which the risk of short-circuit increased manifold.

  • Missing emergency exit: No other emergency exit or emergency door was made in the entire building to get out in case of emergency.

  • The same narrow path: There was only one main way in and out of the entire building. As soon as the electricity was cut and the flames increased, this only road also got blocked.

  • Door not unlocked: Investigation revealed that due to failure of the electronic/automatic lock system of the main gate, 15 people could not come out in time and got stuck inside.

SIT’s strict comment: The accused were well aware that in case of any sudden accident, the lives of the people present inside could be lost. Despite this, he committed willful negligence, which is a serious criminal act.

Big action of LDA: 5 zonal officers and 18 engineers will be punished

This painful accident has exposed the corruption within LDA. LDA has admitted in its official statement submitted to the SIT that there was gross negligence at the department’s level in the construction and monitoring of this illegal building in Aliganj.

On the basis of investigation, the authority has fixed the responsibility of the then prescribed authority, 5 zonal officers and 18 engineers. Finding all of them guilty of the accident, a report recommending strict departmental and punitive action against them has been sent to the government by the LDA VC.

Bulldozer will run on illegal building: 15 days ultimatum

LDA has declared this entire building as illegal construction and has issued a show cause notice to the building owners for demolition. The authority has given a clear warning that if no satisfactory and valid response is received from the building owners within the next 15 days, then this entire illegal building will be razed to the ground by using the administration’s bulldozer.

Court’s strict decision: All four accused sent to jail

Considering the seriousness of the case, the court has rejected the bail plea of the four accused and ordered them to be sent to jail in judicial custody for 14 days.
