Amidst the festive season, the country’s major government oil marketing companies (Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum) have released the latest prices of LPG LPG cylinders on Saturday, October 10. On the domestic kitchen budget front, there is a big relief for the common consumers, as there has been no change in the prices of 14.2 kg Domestic LPG Gas Cylinder and the rates remain stable. At the same time, the prices of 19 kg commercial gas cylinders (Commercial LPG Cylinder) used by restaurant, hotel and dhaba operators are trading at their prescribed levels after the recent revision. The latest prices of LPG cylinders today in the metros of Uttar Pradesh including the national capital New Delhi, financial capital Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai are as follows:

Retail prices of 14.2 kg domestic non-subsidized LPG cylinder have been recorded stable in metros today:

• New Delhi: ₹942.00 per cylinder

• Mumbai: ₹941.50 per cylinder

• Kolkata: ₹968.00 per cylinder

• Chennai: ₹957.50 per cylinder

Today’s prices in metros for 19 kg blue commercial cylinders used in hotels, confectionaries and commercial establishments:

• New Delhi: ₹2,810.00 per cylinder

• Mumbai: ₹2,764.50 per cylinder

• Kolkata: ₹2,954.00 per cylinder

• Chennai: ₹2,983.00 per cylinder

Domestic and commercial gas cylinder rates as per local state VAT and transportation cost for consumers of Uttar Pradesh:

Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) subsidy of ₹300 per 14.2 kg cylinder is being provided directly into the bank account of eligible poor families under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) by the Central Government. This means that a cylinder effectively costs around ₹642 to Ujjwala beneficiaries in the capital Delhi. Additionally, with the decision of the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh to provide 2 free LPG cylinder refills to Ujjwala families on the occasion of Diwali and Holi, more than 1.86 crore families of the state are getting complete relief from kitchen fuel expenses during the festive season.

The base price of LPG cylinder across the country is decided by oil marketing companies on the basis of the LPG contract price (CP) set by Saudi Aramco internationally and the exchange rate of the rupee against the US dollar. However, local Value Added Tax (VAT), octroi, freight charges and local delivery charges applicable vary from state to state. This is the reason why cylinders are available at relatively lower prices in Noida and Delhi, while in remote towns, Purvanchal or hilly areas the retail price remains slightly higher due to the addition of transportation costs.
